Constipation
Adults
Increase fluids
Eat a high fiber diet--fruits and vegetables
Eat whole grain bread
Drink prune juice
Eat popcorn
Exercise regularly
Try using Metamucil, Citrucel, etc.
Young infants
Glucose water daily in addition to
regular feeding. The recipe for glucose water: 4 oz. water and 1 tsp. of
sugar or light Karo syrup. Warming the Karo syrup will help it dissolve
easier.
Older infants
Fruit juices: apple, prune, or grape
Baby fruits: peaches, pears, plums or prunes. No bananas
Cereal: increase the amount given
Children
Increase fluids, fiber and exercise.
